Found a fix for this error.

Enable the following to proceed with the game:
Under Video
[x] Use vertex cache
[x] Use shaders
[x] Enable VAO (only relevant when using shaders and vertex cache)
[x] Enable saving GE screen to textures instead of memory

Under Memory
[x] Ignore invalid memory access

This is pretty much the only setup I've found to allow you to access the map without it crashing. Could possibly work for other crashes as well that myself and others have experienced when going to the first area of a map. I will continue playing and test several settings to see which prevent what when playing. So far I can confirm this:

1) Latest build starting with 3xxx, you do not need to do that work around with the Marta and Farah skit down in Brownie Mines. Game progresses normally with no crash.

2) When you get the exterminate quest to kill Stone Golem, the game will crash upon entering battle. To fix this, just use these cwcheats to allow yourself to battle the golem then you can turn them off:

3) There's a certain part of a quest that has you go to the Forest area map 2 (after the save point) which crashes every time as well. Use the above code to avoid it.

4) The one everyone had trouble with...Quest where you have to go to Floor 3 of Brownie Mines, no matter what you do you cannot access that floor. Probably the most easiest fix of them all, go to options, choose clock speed and select (150%). Doing this will allow you to freely explore the rest of the Mines however, if you backtrack you will most likely crash.

5) Veratropa's 2nd area after the first save point..See the first sentence of this post for a fix.

Edit1: attached a screenshot of a new error during a skit with Keele, Lazaris, robot, and Judith.

Edit2: Work around for the skit with Lazaris, Judith, Keele, and the robot.
Enable everything under video except for Disable VBO and Software Rendering.
If you have Ignore invalid memory access checked, uncheck it.
Proceed with the skit and be teleported back to the ship. Save and put your original settings back.

Veratropa is so buggy >.>
