external software renderer Require CPU supporting AVX2 or SSE4.1 ?

yes and not useful for software renderer anyway

An non-SSE version is useless since any decent intel/amd processor should support SSE/SSE2/SSE3 at least. Remember when we started this project, I had only an AMD Phenom II and so we only used SSE2. So the minimal version should be at least run SSE/SSE2 by letting c++ compiler to issue those instructions by default.

what does external software renderer useing for. Dose it is faster?
This is mostly like a proof of work which allows us to get a better idea of ge internals. I think there is still room for optimization. It could also be a future base for a mix of software and hardware algorithms involving some OpenGL or OpenCL computer shaders.
