How to play a disc game (decrypt eboot.bin)
#1
First, I want to note that I'm a Patron supporter and avid user for several months (arcade games). I also have 1 of like 5 disc drives out there that let's me simply pop in pc and copy PS3 disc content (did not even know before purchase!!). See screenshot. I also searched on the forums and online but simply could not find an answer to my question:

Do I simply need a decrypted eboot.bin to play? It sounds like I go to "Boot Game" > point to disc folder and if the eboot.bin is fixed/decrypted, it'll start. Is that correct? If so, how the heck do I decrypt this (since rpcsx3 doesn't currently do this)?

Any help would be appreciated!

aakh1361, he is not asking how to play games, he is asking how to run them from real encrypted PS3 discs, and this can't be done directly. However one can rip and decrypt the disk from a computer BD drive, see quickstart guide for how to do it: https://rpcs3.net/quickstart

Thanks guys. So this is the latest (and easiest?) way to play my disc games?

How do I dump PlayStation 3 games and software?

You will need two different tools for dumping PlayStation 3 game discs from a Blu-ray drive:

• PS3 ISO Patcher - By BlackDaemon

• 3k3y ISO Tools - By the 3k3y team

1 - Insert a PlayStation 3 Blu-ray disc game of your choice.

2 - Dump the .iso image using a program like Alcohol 120%.

3 - Use jonnysp.bplaced.net to locate the appropriate .ird file that matches your game.

4 - Be sure to check discID in case of different game editions and the game's firmware version in param.sfo

5 - Open PS3 ISO Patcher and select your dumped .iso file and its appropriate .ird file.

6 - Press Patch to apply the patch to the .iso file.

7 - Open 3k3y ISO Tools and decrypt the .iso file.
8 - Your game should now be properly decrypted.

9 - You must now extract your decrypted .iso file for use with RPCS3.

Yes. Unless you actually have a CFW PS3. In that case just copy paste the disc content via FTP.

I used to DL IRD files from Jonnysp (actually down).
Is there a backup site for IRD files?

Or how can I create them by myself?

Thanks!

You can easily find IRD file packs with a couple of google searches.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a backup website, but you can still find the IRD files around the web.
