I did say I experienced exactly the same issues regardless if the version was undub or not, with the difference is that the English localization would not show me the introduction cinematic (I don't mind) but it hangs up at a white screen when I click to enter any kind of combat (story mode or otherwise). Also, I have read through this thread rather meticulously and may have missed maybe some posts in the middle around the 20-25 page mark but that's about it.
I want to clarify that my issue does not seem to be specifically a font issue, rather a graphics one where the highest layer (text) will not show. I have doodled a bit with different graphics variations but with no result.
