Is UMD-PG playable in JPCSP?
#1
psp
Just in case you don't know about it, UMD-PG is what the "Laserdisk game" is to the Laserdisk itself. Don't get mislead by it's catagory as a UMD-Movie, it's actually a game.

I can watch UMD-PG's intros and some movie part, but it seems that controls doesn't work at all. So is it's unsupported or just wrong setting?

Actually the problem is the control part of the UMD-PG, not the movie part.
I think UMD-PG's do have programmable logic in it and also I/O's involving the controller.
You can kinda think of them as a flash game (compare to the flash movie).

I think S@ny have developed some programmable interface for the UMD-movie technology, aside from the native PSP programming interface. I heard that some adult game companies prefer to develop their games on the UMD-movie platform (i.e with programmable interface) rather than PSP platform itselt, in order to avoid the strong censorship.

UMD-PG are, I think, made of small movie portions, unordered. And the interacive logic parts of the game chose which movie portion to play based on user input through psp controller. So as a result, you adventure through it with your decisions.

I don't think this is emulated at all... is it?

Providing a log file at TRACE level would help me to analyze which feature is still missing.

Thank you
Always include a complete log file at INFO level in your reports. Thanks! How to post a log

Thank you

OK, but before we go that far, I suggest you to try one of the following UMD-PG adventure games from Palace, and see how far you can go:

*warning: this are all audult meterials, stay away if you are under 18*
Code:
Aki no Urara no Akaneiro Shoutengai (Japan)
Aneimo 2 - Second Stage (Japan)
Clover Heart's Rea Hen (Japan)
Clover Heart's Rio Hen (Japan)
Gitai Saimin (Japan)
Kanojo x Kanojo x Kanojo - Dokidoki Full Throttle! (Japan)
Kanojo x Kanojo x Kanojo - Sanshimai tono Doki Doki Kyoudou Seikatsu (Japan)
Love Fetish - Te Koki Hen (Japan) (UMD-PG Edition)
LOVERS -Koi ni Ochitara...- (Japan)
Mei Shoujo (Japan)
Momichupa Teacher - Kyonyuu Shimai to Sankaku Kankei (Japan)
Osananajimi to Amaku H ni Sugosu Houhou (Japan)
Saimin Seikatsu - Kousoku Dakara Shikatanai (Japan)
School Days (Japan)
School Project (Japan)
Sekai wo Seifuku Suru Tame no, 3tsu no Houhou (Japan)
Sharin no Kuni Himawari no Shoujo (Japan)
Summer Days (Japan)
Toriko no Hime - Inma no Chouritsu (Japan)
Ura Saiminjyutsu 2 (Japan)
Most of them do nothing but audio, while some of them play the intros movies. But that's it... no play possible after that.

I think UMD-PG is very similar to DVD-PG. So checking with the better documented DVD-PG spec may be helpful... or not Smile
