When games don't want to save internally

So far, two games dim to grey and freeze when I'm trying to use the in-game save feature; those two games are Astonisha Story and Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded. I'm not sure if there is any fix for this (it would be nice if there was), but I did want to bring it up both as an "ask if there's any help for this" issue as well as a "if this is an actual problem with compatibility and not me just being dense, it might want to be fixed at some time possibly-maybe" issue.
