With build r1555, Final Fantasy 1 no longer works for me. Settings I usually go with: Shaders, Media Engine, GE Graphics, Viewport, and Vertex Cache. I have experimented with the settings, but no positive results. It remains a black screen, won't even load up the square enix logo.

Sorry about the wait in the reply. Yes, it is now working in r1557, although it takes a little longer to load in. After it does though, it runs smoothly. I also want to mention that since about r1540 (or there abouts) the game has been running a lot faster, especially in the ingame menus and when choosing to start a new game. The only problem I have been running into is what appears to be a memory leak. After about 5 minutes, the whole computer lags up to the point of unresponsiveness and I pretty much have to kill the program or actually do a hard shutdown.

Somewhere between r1559 and r1561 the program no longer drops to 1fps and completely locks up the system resources after 5 mins. Instead it just closes out the program.
